One of my clients said that Adobe/Macromedia was going to discontinue
development of Robohelp. Is this true? If so, does anyone know of a suitable
substitue?

Thanks.

That is the rumour, yes, although there has been no definitive statement
from Adobe/Macromedia. See this page for details:

Quite a number of tools offer an import-from-RoboHelp facility, including
Doc-To-Help, Help & Manual, and MadCap Flare. One of the best places to look
for information on these tools is here:

MadCap Software is particularly interesting because many of its employees
worked previously on RoboHelp development. But Flare is currently available
in a pre-release version only; the first proper version of the tool is a few
weeks away.
