Discussion:
WinHelp tab spacing
(too old to reply)

Another newbie question:

I'd like to be able to control tab spacing in
WinHelp, but HCW 4.0 seems to be ignoring
my \txn commands, no matter what value of
n that I use.

I'm just trying to make an indented outline,
using multiple \tab commands to start
text in the proper columns. Is there some
other way to do this that will give me control
over the spacing?

Thanks!

I'm not familiar enough with the RTF tokens to know whether or not the
\txn statement is buggy, but I don't think most Help Workshop users
should need to dig around in the RTF coding in order to format their
text; you should be able to set the required values in Word (Format >
Paragraph, or Format > Style > Modify). It may be worth noting,
though, that you must explicitly define a tab stop at the location of
an indent to get it to display properly in WinHelp. For more
information on this and other formatting issues, see the Unofficial
WinHelp 4.0 Bugs and Anomalies List
(http://www.smountain.com/m_ref.htm).

You may also want to investigate various techniques for adding fully
formatted tables to your WinHelp topics:

Ahh, it seems that last part was what I was missing. I had
assumed that once the size was set, then each tab command
would advance by one tabstop, like in ASCII.
